The 2nd agrofood & plastprintpack Ethiopia 2018 was completed with great success. The exhibitors were very satisfied, as a remarkable number of 2,673 visitors from all over Ethiopia visited the fair in order to discuss dedicated projects.

Ethiopia's 2nd International Trade Show on Agriculture, Food Processing & Packaging Technology and Food & Hospitality was held on 3 to 5 May 2018 at the Millennium Hall in Addis Ababa.

Agro-processing is one of the priority sectors in Ethiopia that offer significant investment opportunities for both domestic as well as foreign investors. Owing to its unique and suitable agro climate conditions, Ethiopia produces a wide range of agricultural commodities including coffee, livestock products, oil seeds and pulses, fruits, vegetables and flowers spices etc. A livestock sector is also another potential sector. The Government of Ethiopia is exerting unreserved efforts to increase the supply and improve the quality of these products. The entire agro sector potential places Ethiopia as a great promising country for agro-processing and related investments. … 

The 2nd agrofood Ethiopia 2018 scored with an outstanding participation of international market leaders

The German trade show specialists fairtrade emphasized the outstanding participation of international market leaders at the 2nd edition of agrofood Ethiopia 2018.

“Building on the great results of the first edition in 2017, the quality of exhibitors at the 2018 trade fair has once again improved significantly”, outlined Martin März, founder and managing partner of fairtrade. “The 2018 exhibitor list reads like a who-is-who of the global agrofood industry.”

58 exhibitors from 18 countries have participated, namely from Austria, China, Denmark, Ethiopia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Kenya, South Africa, Spain, Sudan, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom and USA.

Ethiopia is the largest importer of food process and packaging machinery in East and Central Africa and 2nd largest of agricultural technology

Ethiopia is East and Central Africa’s largest economy and with growth rates of between 6 and 10% also one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

With imports of 128 million Euros in 2016 (VDMA) Ethiopia is East and Central Africa’s largest importer of food process and packaging machinery, and with 31 million Euros also the 2nd largest of agro-technology.

Food trade with Ethiopia: a 2.770 billion US Dollar business

During the past years Ethiopian food imports have increased by 21 percent annually  from 0.866 billion US$ in 2009 to 2.738 billion US$ in 2015. Food exports increased by 13 percent annually over the same period, to now more than 2.417 billion US-Dollar. (WTO)
